Biography 2009:

Savage Circus – Of Death And Doom

Savage Circus was given birth in 2004 by ex-Blind Guardian Drummer Thomen Stauch on drums, Jens Carlsson on vocals and Emil Norberg and Piet Sielck on guitars. This line-up recorded the first album “Dreamland Manor” which was released in September 2005 with tremendous worldwide success.

In 2006 Thomen Stauch had to pass on the drumsticks for the entire year to Mr. Thomas Nack due to health problems. Thomas played all live shows and was also filmed with the band at the Prog Power Festival USA, Atlanta and became part of their first live DVD “Live In Atlanta”.

From the very first show in Japan Yenz Leonhardt played the bassguitar. After returning to the drums in March 2007 for a tour with Circle II Circle Thomen became more and more unstable again which resulted in a lot of last minute live show cancellations. After giving Thomen a whole year to sort out his problems rather fruitlessly, the band just could not see anymore, that Thomen would become stable enough again and with a heavy heart saw no other option than to separate from him.

In a state of shock all activities paused for a while and Savage Circus had to reconfigure themselves. With Mike Terrana joining the band in September 2007 the vacant drum position was filled with a hell of drummer being able to measure up with his predecessor. Also Yenz Leonhardt became a full member at that time. With the altered line-up the band switched to songwriting mode again and forged the 2nd full length studio album. Again all members contributed to the songwriting sending back and forth bits and pieces, parts and lyrics via the internet. During 2008/2009 the material grew more and more and in late spring 2009 the band was ready to switch to production mode again.

Now Savage Circus is ready to return to the scene with a crack of thunder. The long awaited new album “Of Doom And Death” shows all trademarks of “Dreamland Manor”. Progressive and powerful songwriting combined with elaborate arrangements, tons of melodies and harmonies, raging guitars rounded up with the trademark vocals towering on the music. Titel: OF DOOM AND DEATH Release date: October 26th, 2009 Label: Dockyard 2 Records Vertrieb: Soulfood Lyric wise Savage Circus are picking up on Stephen King’s “Dark Tower”, Frank Herbert’s “Dune” and other fantasy and dark tales.
